The HERCHILD Model 670N is a 2-channel tube-based Fairchild-type Vari-Mu compressor. It incorporates the Heritage Audio's experiences from developing the HERCHILD Model 660 and 670 and the GRANDCHILD 670/500. The HERCHILD Model 660 and 670 are a faithful recreation of the legendary Fairchild Model 660 and 670 by using authentic NOS tubes, carefully designed transformers and retaining the look and feel of the revered originals. The GRANDCHILD 670/500 has achieved the apparently impossible: integrating the sound of the classic Vari-Mu compressor into a 500 series module. The HERCHILD Model 670N is the next generation of Fairchild-style Vari-Mu compressors, offering faithful reproduction of the original sound and additional features for modern productions.

The HERCHILD Model 670N several modern features never seen before. Each channel includes an independent bypass, side chain filtering, and a carefully crafted output gain make-up stage. This stage is based on the Heritage Audio highly regarded transformer-coupled HA-880 opamp, which maintains the essence of the HERCHILD 670 while providing non-intrusive output gain.

The six Attack and Release times have been meticulously designed to offer even more flexibility than the original unit. Additionally, the progressive DC Threshold combines control of the ratio and the knee, ranging from hard limiting to very smooth, transparent compression.

Powered by the same NOS tubes as the HERCHILD 670 and six newly designed custom transformers, the HERCHILD Model 670N brings rich analog warmth and commanding presence to tracks. Despite its power, it remains remarkably quiet and transparent, making it ideal for both the creative demands of mixing and the precision required in mastering.

In short: The Next Gen HERCHILD Model 670N delivers the same sound quality as the HERCHILD 670 but with 150% more functionality.

The HERCHILD Model 670N is designed for engineers who care about sound and features. Every design choice serves one goal: deliver the unmistakable Vari-Mu tone heard on thousands and thousands of #1 hit records for the past seven decades with 21st-century reliability and accessibility. The warmth embraces the tracks, breathing new life into them. The HERCHILD Model 670N carries the soul of its predecessors, ensuring that the king of tube compression sound, which has influenced countless producers, is now accessible for crafting new masterpieces.
